This eight-hour class (held in two sessions) provides all the information needed to learn about the homebuying process, what to look for in buying a home, different mortgage products, roles of different professionals, and more. You must meet with housing counselor prior to registering for this class to determine mortgage readiness. You must complete both classes to recieve Certificate of Completion.
New classes are started monthly except during August and December.

Has it been a few years since you closed on your mortgage loan or even a few months? Do you have an Adjustable Rate Mortgage Loan and can't quite remember when and how often it will reset, the interest rate of reset, or the amount of your new monthly payment(s)?
Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (TRIP) and Rensselaer County Housing Resources (RCHR) in partnership with Pioneer Bank and SEFCU will offer a free and confidential analysis of your current mortgage loan.
Homeowners will need to bring mortgage closing documents with them on the 21st.

For troubled borrowers, learn about the options available to you if you are
having difficulty making your mortage payments.
TRIP has joined with area agencies: Affordable Housing Partnership (AHP), Albany County Rural Housing Alliance (ACRHA), and Better Neighborhoods Inc. (BNI) to offer classes on preventing foreclosure.
Classes will be offered throughout the Capital District and are required prior to one-on-one counseling.

Learn best rental management practices in the free, four-hour session. Hear from TRIP's Rental Management Director, one of Troy's community police officers, a code enforcement inspector, Rensselaer Polytecnic Institute, and United Tenants. This class is designed for small or large landlords, both newbies and old-timers. Troy Landlord Training sessons are held three times each year.

Learn how to do your own home repairs in this hands-on home maintenance training program held at Sears at Colonie Center. Classes run weekly for eight sessions from 6 – 7:30 PM and are offered two times each year.
