Paint
the Boards Project
The "Paint the Boards"
project is another great example of residents
working together to improve their neighborhood, in
this case through livening up the street with
community art decorating abandoned buildings.
During the Victorian Stroll,
on Sunday, Dec.
6th from 11am- 5pm, stop in City Hall to see
five of the beautiful and lively boards being
painted by several dozen children an d adults from the S.
Lansingburgh neighborhood. The boards will
ultimately spruce up the facades of several vacant
buildings in those neighborhoods as we replace the
plywood currently covering window frames of
abandoned properties. TRIP, Community Police,
and the Alley Action Project are all
pleased to be partnering on this colorful
effort.
Additionally, Debra Lockrow, owner of
Artcentric Gift Gallery 95 4th Street has
gathered 7 diverse local artists to create art to
cover the white window panels on the Proctors
building. It is Debra's intention to add color and
a positive energy to 4th St and Troy. There will
be an unveiling of this Board Painting
Projectat
Proctor's on Wednesday Dec. 2nd at 1:30 pm.
There will be cider and donuts provided by RPI .
All are welcome to stop by. The boards will be
installed that day,after the
gathering.
