To support and empower neighborhood residents so that they can collectively effect positive changes in their communities; to facilitate their ability to envision and create healthy, viable neighborhoods.
TRIP assisted eight neighborhood groups in planning events for the 24th Annual National Night Out on August 7, 2007, which encourages citizens to work together to combat crime and drugs. Hundreds of people in Troy participated in their neighborhoods' events, which ranged from BBQs to bike safety to beautification efforts.
TRIP helps neighborhood residents identify their needs and create solutions in partnership with others through the creation of block clubs and neighborhood associations.
TRIP works in partnership with area residents to undertake improvements in their neighborhoods. To date, we have worked with the City to revitalize a playground, replaced eyesore vacant lots with a new community garden, and helped with various beautification efforts.
TRIP has developed several new and innovative programs in partnership with others to respond to community needs including the Troy Landlord Training Program, Tenant Training, Take Stock in Your Block, Youth Opportunities, and more.
TRIP is facilitating a citywide group of neighborhood associations, crime watches, and block clubs with the goal of strengthening each group and helping to create others. Members share best practices, hear from City officials, and learn about resources.
