TRIP participates in neighborhood improvement projects, clean-ups, rebuilding efforts, and more with residents, local officials, other organizations and corporate partners.
TRIP & many partners collaborated on an ongoing project called "Paint the Boards." The Paint the Boards project replaces vacant buildings' boarded up windows with colorful artwork designed & painted by neighborhood residents.
This project gives local kids & teens an opportunity to get involved in their community, and at the same time helping to beautify their neighborhood.

In 2006, TRIP helped in the effort to create of a beautiful new community garden built on several derelict, vacant lots.

Below, at the A&V Neighborhood Community Garden’s ribboncutting on June 10, 2006. From left TRIP Board President Ann Ellery, residents Ms. Virginia Dickson and Ms. Allene Gamble, TRIP Staff Hilary Lamishaw, and Capital District Community Gardens Staff Sharon DiLorenzo. The garden was named after Allene and Virginia who successfully led the efforts to transform this blight into a flourishing garden of delight.
